Cakes and other sweets

Here are some of the cakes, cupcakes, cake pops and other sweets I've made.

Cupcakes:
Some of the combos I've made are chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting, orange cupcake with banana cream cheese filling and orange frosting, chai cupcakes, black bottom cupcakes with mocha buttercream frosting. I can also make almost any combination of cake and frosting.

Cakes:
The most famous cake I've made is the "piecaken". It's a pie baked inside a cake - specifically triple berry pie with vanilla cake and frosted with buttercream frosting. Of course there are tons more combinations of pies and cakes that I can make. Also all of the cakes I make can be decorated with paper decorations - like the one on the last photo here.

Cake pops:
Just like the cupcakes, cake pops can be made in tons of combinations. My favorite ones are the chocolate peanut butter ones and velvet cream cheese ones. I can also make cake pops in the form of truffles, they're the same but smaller in size and no sticks.

Chocolate peanut butter

Oreo Truffles

Chocolate Vanilla

Carrot cake - pineapple

Others:
I can make mini doughnuts (super cute), chocolate dipped pretzel sticks and M&M cookies.

All of the baked goods can be packaged in decorated boxes (or candy bags) and a customized gift tag.

I will keep you updated when I come up with other recipes and ideas.

Easter Crafts

I made some Easter treats so I thought I'd show you how to make them too! :)
Here is a list of the materials I used:
~Mini Chinese take out boxes (found in any crafts store, they're not intended for food! )
~Plastic eggs - I got ones that are attached a little so you can close and open them easily
~Shredded paper and feathers to make a nest inside the boxes for the eggs
~Nail polish (I used 3 colors) and a small cup of water
~Green craft paper
~Easter stickers
~Yellow ribbon
~Jelly Beans (or any small candy to fill the plastic eggs! )
~Paper glue
~Glue gun or other fabric adhesive

First I decorated the plastic eggs using water marbling - I first saw this method to paint nails, but thought it's a great way to decorate plastic eggs too! I did that first so the eggs can dry while doing the boxes.

I chose 3 different colors nail polish.. you can use as many as you want.

Next I used the brush to drop nail polish in the water,

Wait for the polish to spread then drop more, I dropped total of 7 drops each time

When there is enough polish, swirl around to make a design.

Then dip the egg in the water and the nail polish will stick to the egg. I did one half at a time.

And here are the final eggs, I let them dry while making the rest of the craft. I did get some water spots on them, but it looked like it was part of the design.

For the box, I cut out strips of green craft paper, I used my cutter tool to put indents in the paper to imitate grass, you can also do that with a pen, or if you already have a grass patterned paper - even better! Then glued the "grass" to all 4 sides of the box. Put some Easter stickers around it. I wrapped the handle with ribbon and made a little bow which I glued with glue gun to the sides of the box.

Once the plastic eggs dried, I filled them with jelly beans.

Then I stuffed the box with shredded paper, couple of colorful feathers and placed the egg inside it.

And that's it! easy to make, but time consuming for decoration. The grass took me the most time, then making the little bows. So if you buy grass printed paper and bows that are already done, then it's gonna be even faster! :)

Thanks for reading and Happy Easter!

New Crafts Space

Finally I have my new craft space organized! Before I used the dining table for my jewelry and crafts, I had my beads and tools in storage boxes that I had to take out and put away every time I did something. But now I don't have to do that anymore! My boyfriend helped me build my new craft space. He build a wooden table that goes against a wall with a window, so I have natural light coming thru. The table is about 5-something ft by 2ft 5in, it's really spacious. Underneath I got some drawer storage and next to it a wooden shelf that I keep my Cricut and colored paper. And of course I had to decorate it - I placed my lava lamp, a little clock that stands on a spring (it's just like this one <here>, but green - so cute). I have a table lamp that I decorated with some of my jewelry.
I will have to take pics of everything and post them.
Now that it's all done, I just need some inspiration to create :) I have a project to-do list I started and will be adding more to it! I'm very excited!

Hearts, hearts, hearts... and glitter!

Valentine's is coming up soon! I started making my valentine cards, I've made few so far, hopefully I have time to make some more. I also made heart gift tags.
All of the hearts were cut out using my Cricut machine. I got creative and layered different sizes and colors to make them more interesting. I used a lot of glitter and colored paperstock.
Had tons of fun making them.

And of course the cards need envelopes too!

All of these are for sale on my Etsy shop - StarbitJewels

Of course this isn't all the valentine creations I will be making - I'm planning on valentine heart cookies and other treats. Look for an update in the next few days.

Happy Valentine's Day! <3

Colorful Feathers

Last week my friend asked me if I know how to make feather earrings. I've never made them before, however I had one pair from a long time ago - I looked at it and it looked pretty simple to make. So I went to the craft store over the weekend, got a bag of feathers, earring findings and little crimp beads with a ring attached to them

I used different beads I already had to make different designs.
I started making them and couldn't stop! I made 12 pairs and 1 long earring (didn't have the same feathers to make a second one, however I might turn it into a hair clip) in the last 3 days. They are so much fun to make! And I will keep making them until I run out of feathers.
My favorite feathers are the ones with dots. They're so pretty and unique.

Here are each one by one:
